Sails Original Music Series

The City of Hickory's Sails Original Music Series returns to downtown Hickory this spring and fall, bringing free concerts of live original music under The Sails on the Square. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Friday evenings in May, June, and September. Music fans will also enjoy a change of venue for a special Sails Original Music Series concert at the Samuel Davis Multipurpose Field in Taft Broome Park on Friday, September 15, at 7 p.m. Check out the concert dates and complete band lineup at the link below.

Convention Center Breaks Ground on Expansion and Renovation

Community leaders turned dirt Monday, May 1, to mark the start of construction on the Hickory Metro Convention Center's $14 million expansion and renovation. The project will add more than 46,000 square feet to the convention center, resulting in a total of more than 132,000 usable square feet on one level. The expansion will enable the convention center to accommodate large sports tournaments and add additional meeting and event space.

Crone Leaving City Attorney Role

City Attorney John Crone

Longtime Hickory City Attorney John Crone will be stepping away from his position with the City of Hickory on June 30. Appointed by the Hickory City Council, Crone has served as the City Attorney for Hickory for 28 years. He will continue practicing law locally.
