Registration for the City of Hickory's Youth Fall Soccer, Co-ed Youth Fall Baseball, and Adult Softball programs is open until Wednesday, August 10. For information on all of these sports programs, please click here.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! This month’s movies feature Space Jam on August 12 and Coco on August 26. The movies are free to the public and are weather permitting. Concessions and games will be available before each movie begins. Showtime will be around 8:30 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
Back to School Bash
Let’s get ready for school with the Back to School Bash presented by Modern Nissan of Hickory! On Saturday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Taft Broome Park, there will be free food, face painting, balloon artist, free haircuts, and so much more for the family to enjoy. Lightning Bug Boogie Night Trail Run 5K
Let's get ready to boogie! Our 1st Lightning Bug Boogie 5K Trail Run will take place on Friday, August 19, starting at 9 p.m. on the Lake Hickory Trails at Hickory City Park. This course will consist of off-road trails that include hills, descents, tight turns, roots, rocks, and other trail features. All participants will be required to have a light in the form of a headlamp or flashlight.
Back to school shopping? Make your first stop at Highland Recreation Center to win school supplies during a fun game of Bingo! Anyone ages 18 and under is welcome to play on Monday, August 15. Hiking Club
Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department and the Hickory Public Library have teamed up to bring you Hickory's newest hiking club! This club is open to hikers of all ages and experience levels. Children under the age of 13 are required to be accompanied by an adult. Participation is free, but registration is required, and space is limited. Our next hike will be on Saturday, August 13, starting at 9 a.m. at Mountain Creek Park. Calling all teenagers! Come hang with your friends at Highland Recreation Center! We get the recreation center all to ourselves to play glow-in-the-dark games, listen to music, eat pizza, and chill! Join us on Friday, August 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., after the recreation center closes. $5 registration required; limited spots available.
