Youth Dodgeball Tournament
Calling all youth to participate in this year’s dodgeball tournament at Brown Penn Recreation Center. This event will be held for ages 10 to 15 on Saturday, June 11, at 12 p.m. Teams must fill out their roster sheet, 5 players per team, for $10 a team. The winning team will receive a prize! Inclusive Play
Kids and adults with disabilities are invited to Highland Recreation Center for a fun and safe place to play and interact with each other. We will offer the following dates in June: Monday, June 13, from 6-8 p.m.; Friday, June 17, from 12-2 p.m.; and Monday, June 27, from 6-8 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to invite family or friends! Glow in the Dark Basketball
Ever played basketball in the dark? Now is your chance! On June 18, from 1-3 p.m., kids ages 8 to 15 are invited to play Glow in the Dark Basketball at Ridgeview Recreation Center. Hiking Club
Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department and Hickory Public Library have teamed up to bring you Hickory's newest hiking club! Hikers of all ages and experience levels are invited to join us for adventures in various parks throughout the county. Children under the age of 13 are required to be accompanied by an adult. Participation is free, but registration is required, and space is limited. Our next hike will be on Saturday, June 18, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Valdese Lakeside Park. Registration is now open for our annual Sports & Fitness Camp. The camp will take place June 20-24 and campers will experience multiple sports and activities including basketball, tennis, gymnastics, skating, and so much more! This exciting camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for kids ages 9 to 14. Cost will be $60 for City of Hickory residents and $80 for non-city residents. Spinning Spokes will take place on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hickory City Park. There will be a bike skills course led by Hickory Police Department, a group trail ride at 11 a.m., bicycle inspections, helmet fitting, bike vendors, and food trucks for all to enjoy! Community Drum Circle
Drum with us downtown under The Sails! A Community Drum Circle will be led by Rick Cline on Thursday, June 23, from 7-8 p.m. All ages and skill levels are welcome to this FREE event.
