Business. Well Crafted. Award Winner 2022: David E. Looper & Company

On December 6, 2022, the City of Hickory's Business Development Committee recognized nine businesses for their excellence and community engagement in Hickory with the Business. Well Crafted. Awards. Over the course of the year, the City has been releasing spotlight videos for each award recipient, showcasing what makes them a Business. Well Crafted.

 

For the month of August, the City of Hickory recognizes David E. Looper & Company. Formed in 1993, David E. Looper & Company (Delco) is a full service general contractor with offices in Hickory and Charleston, S.C. Delco is a regional leader in commercial, design build projects and has built a reputation for delivering outstanding client value and completing projects on time and within budget. The business has seen substantial growth over the last several years, with 2022 revenues up over 45 percent in comparison to 2020. David E. Looper & Company has been heavily involved in projects within the City of Hickory, including Trivium Corporate Center, One North Center, and the Riverwalk. As part of its ideology and development vision, Delco is focused on constructing buildings that make the City of Hickory more livable, workable, and enjoyable.

Construction Contract Approved for Historic Ridgeview Walk

Construction of a new segment of the Hickory Trail will soon begin. During its regular meeting on August 1, Hickory City Council approved a $6,462,202.23 construction contract with Kemp Sigmon Construction Company, Inc. for the Historic Ridgeview Walk. 

 

The Historic Ridgeview Walk (formerly known as the Book Walk) will be part of the larger Hickory Trail multiuse path system and bond program that seeks to increase quality of life for residents and spur economic revitalization by providing pedestrian and bicycle connectivity throughout the city.

The City of Hickory Business Development Committee (BDC) is currently accepting nominations for its 2023 Business. Well Crafted. Awards program.

 

“Hickory is fortunate to be home to many successful businesses and inspiring entrepreneurs,” said Hickory Business Services Manager David Leonetti, who also serves as the staff liaison to the BDC. “The BDC is excited to offer an opportunity to recognize those in our community who share the City’s vision for growth and economic strength and strive to enhance the quality of life for Hickory citizens by engaging in business practices and activities that support that vision.”
