Catawba County Talent Strategy Survey
Leaders in Catawba County have launched a process to develop a comprehensive talent strategy for our community. The Catawba County Talent Strategy will establish how community partners can work together to better develop, attract, and retain a competitive workforce. You can read more about this effort here. The Chamber of Catawba County is seeking responses from leaders like you who are familiar with Catawba County’s workforce strengths, challenges, and potential growth areas.
Your expertise is essential to helping them understand the unique workforce and talent landscape in Catawba County. Will you take a few minutes to complete this brief survey to share your insights?
The City of Hickory will host its annual holiday season kickoff event, the Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting, on Friday, Nov. 22. Lowes Foods has been the sponsor of this festive event since the first year.
A special procession of the Fallen Heroes ministry to honor fallen soldiers from North Carolina will begin at 5:45 p.m., preceding the parade, which will directly follow.
Parade entries will be announced as they pass by the parking deck on First Avenue NW. A committee of community leaders and volunteers will serve as judges of the parade and give awards for Most Creative, Most Christmas Spirit, Best Well-Crafted Theme, and Best Overall.
At the conclusion of the parade, Santa’s float will stop at Union Square so he can light the Christmas tree in downtown Hickory. Holiday music will be performed by Hickory Music Factory until 8:30 p.m

Catawba Science Center Forum and Exhibition: Science Innovation in AI
Catawba Science Center (CSC) is partnering with Microsoft to bring you Science Innovation in AI: A Forum on Artificial Intelligence on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Drendel Auditorium. Discover AI in a whole new way and engage with leaders shaping the future of technology in the community. Representatives from Microsoft, Corning, the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, and Catawba Valley Community College will come together to explore the latest advancements and the future of AI as it pertains to their careers. Following the forum, attendees will have access to CSC’s new featured exhibit Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine.
