2024: Year in Review

2024 Year in Review

From new hangar space at Hickory Regional Airport and progress building the Hickory Trail, to an expansion and renovation of the Hickory Metro Convention Center and the Fire Department's International Accreditation, the City of Hickory has worked towards crafting a brighter future throughout the year. As we wrap up the year, it’s important to take a look back at some City of Hickory highlights, successes, and milestones of 2024.

Historic Ridgeview Walk Now Open

Historic Ridgeview Walk ribbon cutting

Another segment of the Hickory Trail has been completed and is now open to the public. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the community gathered at Samuel William Davis, Sr. Multipurpose Field to cut the ribbon for the Historic Ridgeview Walk. This new section of multiuse trail extends through the Ridgeview area of Hickory from the City Walk on Center Street, all the way to Highway 70. The Historic Ridgeview Walk is the fourth of five Hickory Trail segments to be completed. Thanks to all who were involved in this transformational project and to all that came out to celebrate its completion at the ribbon cutting. Be sure to take a stroll along the Historic Ridgeview Walk and stop at the different markers along the path to learn more about the rich history of this Hickory neighborhood!
