In conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov. 17-21), the City of Hickory announced the 2025 Business. Well Crafted. Award winners on Nov.18.

 

Congratulations to Jason Yates and Steven Lyerly, Boundary Fencing, Lilly Thomas Boutique, DeFeet, Ella Blu, Ideal Office Worx, and Hickory Community Theatre.

2026-2027 Poet Laureate

The Library Advisory Board is proud to announce Scott Owens as the City of Hickory's first Poet Laureate. The Poet Laureate Program is designed to celebrate the rich culture of Hickory and Catawba County, while fostering artistic expression and community engagement. As Poet Laureate, Owens will participate in public readings, lead outreach programs, and speak at holiday events and community gatherings. His two-year term starts on Jan. 1, 2026.
