Families are invited to the annual 1-mile Autism Awareness Fun Walk on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bruce Meisner Park. Show off your strategy skills at this month’s Gather & Game night! Play classic board games like Settlers of Catan, Viticulture, and Faraway in a fun, competitive environment on Wednesday, April 8, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Highland Recreation Center.
Run to home plate on Sunday, April 12, and Sunday, May 17, when we open two of our baseball fields at Stanford Park to the public! From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., adults ages 18+ are invited to play softball for free. Bring your personal equipment, and our staff will provide softballs.
Hickory Hikers is back this month for another hike through the North Carolina outdoors! Join us on Monday, April 20, from 2-3:30 p.m. when we take on a 2.5-mile hike through Valdese Lakeside Park!

Hickory Optimist Park has four pickleball courts, one basketball court, a playground, fitness equipment, and a paved walking trail. It also has a picnic shelter with tables and grills as well as a community room with restrooms and a catering kitchen. Hickory Optimist Park is located at 751 2nd Ave SW in Hickory.
