Kids in grades K-8 are invited to participate in a week-long Youth Tennis Camp at Hickory City Park! From Aug. 4-7, kids of all experience levels will practice their skills in a fun and safe environment. The price is $50 for the week, or $15 for one day.

It’s time to break out your headlamps for our annual Lightning Bug Boogie 5K! This unique nighttime trail run begins at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at the Lake Hickory Trails. The Lightning Bug Boogie is part of the 2025 Hickory 5K Series presented by Frye Regional Medical Center.
Immerse yourself in the fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons at Highland Recreation Center. Beginning Aug. 20, you are invited to participate in this classic role-playing tabletop game every Wednesday from 6-8:30 p.m.
Get ready to go back to school in style at the annual Back to School Bash! This free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23, from 5-7 p.m. at Taft Broome Park. Kids of all ages can get free haircuts, enter to win giveaway prizes, stop by vendor booths and food trucks, and more. The Back to School Bash is presented by Modern Nissan of Hickory.
Women's Volleyball League
We are partnering with Legacy Sports & Development to host this fall’s Women’s Volleyball League! Teams of up to 12 players will compete on Sundays from Sept. 14 through Nov. 2.
The second annual Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K & Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, at Winkler Park. The 5K race begins at 11 a.m. and is designed for runners to bring their dogs on a challenging 5K course. Runners, spectators, and four-legged friends can also enjoy a pup-friendly festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festival includes food trucks, vendors, and a session of dog yoga that is free and open to the public.
