Homeschool students ages 7-11 can participate in Homeschool PE at Highland Recreation Center from September to April. On Thursdays from 1-2 p.m., students can participate in a variety of games and activities that help promote physical fitness. For more information, contact Yadil Sanchez at ysanchez@hickorync.gov.

Dog Walk with Santa

Santa Paws is coming to Bruce Meisner Park! The annual Dog Walk with Santa will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your pup to take photos with Santa and purchase puppy treats and toys from vendors. Food trucks will be on site.

Youth Volleyball & Lacrosse Registration

Registration is now underway for the City of Hickory's Youth Volleyball and Lacrosse programs. 

Youth Volleyball
The Youth Volleyball program is offered to girls ages 9-15, with different divisions by age group:
• 11U for ages 9-11
• 15U for ages 12-15

Youth Lacrosse 
The Youth Lacrosse program is offered to boys and girls ages 5-14, with different divisions by age group:
• Coed 6U for boys and girls ages 5-6 
• Boys 8U for ages 7-8
• Boys 10U for ages 9-10
• Boys 12U for ages 11-12
• Boys 14U for ages 13-14
• Girls Elementary for ages 7-10
• Girls MS for ages 11-14

Pictures with Santa

Kids and families are invited to Highland Recreation Center on Saturday, December 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take pictures with Santa! No registration is required for this event, where the recreation center will transform into the North Pole for Santa and his elves to spread Christmas cheer. 

Winter Break Camp

Kids are invited to make some new memories this Winter Break at a special Winter Break Camp on Friday, January 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. After a morning at the Catawba Science Center, kids will go see a movie. Drop off and pick up will take place at Highland Recreation Center.
