Baseball and Softball Registration

T-Ball 8

Registration is now open at hickory.recdesk.com for spring baseball and softball! Participation is free to all City of Hickory residents, and nonresidents can also participate by paying a $40 nonresident fee.


Baseball

•    T-Ball – Ages 4-6 (boys and girls) 
•    8U – Ages 7 and 8 
•    10U – Ages 9 and 10
•    12U – Ages 11 and 12
•    15U – Ages 13-15

Softball  
•    8U – Ages 7 and 8
•    10U – Ages 9 and 10
•    12U – Ages 11 and 12
•    16U – Ages 13-16

American Sign Language

The City of Hickory Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Department is partnering with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to offer free American Sign Language classes at Ridgeview Recreation Center! Participants can sign up below, then join staff every Monday in February at 11 a.m. for hands-on learning and practice. For more information, contact Crystal Bruce at cbruce@hickorync.gov.

Celebration of the Heart

This year’s Celebration of the Heart is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brown Penn Recreation Center! This Valentine’s Day luncheon for widows and widowers ages 50+ is free to attend. To register, call (828) 324-8007. For more information, contact Todder Clark at nclark@hickorync.gov.  

Community Jam Nights

Unleash your musical side! Community Jam Nights are a fun space to play, create, and connect with fellow musicians. Join us on Monday, Feb. 9, and Monday, Feb. 23, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Highland Recreation Center. No registration required.

Teacher Workday Camp

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to a special Catawba Science Center Day Camp on Friday, Feb. 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The day will begin with games and free play at Neill Clark Gym, then participants will take a tour of the Hickory Fire Department and visit the planetarium at Catawba Science Center. Registration for City of Hickory residents is $35. Nonresidents can also sign up for $40. Snowball Classic Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament

Teams of six will compete for overall prizes in this year’s Snowball Classic Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at Highland Recreation Center. Register below for $90. For more information, contact Lance Riddile at lriddile@hickorync.gov.

Living Wax Museum

See Black History come to life at this year’s Living Wax Museum at Ridgeview Recreation Center. On Saturday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., celebrate Black History Month with historical figures like Harriet Tubman as they share their stories of hope, ingenuity, and progress. South Mountains State Park Hike

Join us for an easy to moderate 1.5-mile hike at the South Mountains State Park! The hike will begin on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Caleb Brown at cjbrown@hickorync.gov or Austin Cheek at acheek@hickorync.gov.

Jigsaw Jamboree

The second annual Jigsaw Jamboree is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at Highland Recreation Center. This speed puzzling competition is designed for all ages, where teams of two or four players compete for prizes in a fun, friendly environment.
