Sith or Jedi? May the Fourth be with you on Monday, May 4, at Highland Recreation Center! From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character for a chance to win prizes! All who come dressed in character will have their photos taken and shared on the official City of Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Facebook page. Community members will vote for their favorite costumes, and winners will receive goodie bags and FREE monthly memberships to our fitness center.
Wellness on the Square
Evenings on Union Square are about to get active! Join us for Wellness on the Square, a series of free Zumba classes hosted on Union Square throughout the month of May. Every Thursday from 6-7 p.m., enjoy an evening dedicated to fitness and fun. No registration required. All ages invited.
Spring into Summer

On Thursday, May 7, from 5-7:30 p.m., browse vendor booths while enjoying free hot dogs, entertainment, games, activities, and giveaways at Taft Broome Park. This program is hosted in partnership with the Catawba County Partnership for Children.
Chess Club
Check mate! Join us at Highland Recreation Center on Wednesday, May 20, from 5-8:30 p.m. for the first meeting of our brand-new Chess Club! Players ages 8 and up are invited to improve their skills and challenge other chess enthusiasts in the community. No registration required.
Open Play Adult Softball
Score a home run on Sunday, May 17, when we open two of our baseball fields at Stanford Park to the public! From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., adults ages 18+ are invited to play softball for free. Bring your personal equipment, and our staff will provide softballs.
