Kids ages 10-16 are invited to Juniors Pickleball on Mondays from 4-6 p.m. at Hickory Optimist Park. Hosted by Channing Moose from Mad Moose Pickleball and NC Juniors Development Team, these workshops include instruction and competitive play for youth of various skill levels.
Homeschool students ages 7-11 can participate in Homeschool PE at Highland Recreation Center from September to April. The City of Hickory is proud to partner with North Carolina Cyclo-Cross to host the sixth race in the 2024 series on Sunday, Nov. 3, at Winkler Park. Registration is open to anyone ages 9 and up.
Get into the holiday spirit at the Marbled Paint Christmas Ornament Workshop at Highland Recreation Center! This workshop led by Fran Whitener is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Participants will leave with four ornaments beautifully painted to add to a Christmas tree or give as a gift.
Learn about the habitats of native species and exotic animals at this month’s Teacher Workday Camp! From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, we will visit Zootastic Park in Troutman, NC. City of Hickory's Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting
The City of Hickory’s annual Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 22, starting at 5:45 p.m. Join us to watch the parade through downtown Hickory, then stay to watch Santa Claus light the Christmas tree in Union Square. The evening kicks off the holiday season with holiday music, shopping, and fun for the whole family.
Winkler Park, home of L.P. Frans Stadium, also includes Winkler Museum and the Ceramics Studio. It has a playground on site along with a picnic shelter, nature trails, and horseshoe pits. Winkler Park is located at 2500 Clement Boulevard NW in Hickory.
