Drum Circle with Hickory Music Factory

We are partnering with Hickory Music Factory for a Drum Circle on Thursday, September 26, from 7-8 p.m. Join us under The Sails on Union Square for an evening of drumming and music making. 

Glow in the Dark Pickleball

What’s better than pickleball? Glow in the Dark Pickleball! Come play with us on Friday, September 13, and Saturday, September 14, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Hickory Optimist Park. Register below for only $10. Contact Yadil Sanchez at ysanchez@hickorync.gov to learn more.

Kidfest

The annual Kidfest is back for 2024 on Saturday, September 21! Come to Kiwanis Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a day of play for kids of all ages. We will have everything from face painters to crafts, games, and vendors. No registration is required. This event is in partnership with The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Hickory. Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K & Festival

The inaugural Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K and Festival will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Winkler Park located at 2500 Clement Boulevard in Hickory. The schedule of events for the festival will be:

11 a.m. - Festival begins (food trucks, music, dog vendors)
1 p.m. - 5K race begins (run with your dog)
2:30 p.m. - Dog Yoga

To register, or for more information on the 5K, click below. Registration is open until Sunday, September 29, at 12:45 p.m. Prices begin at $15 and increase to $20 on September 16. Wild Bird Walk & Talk

Come to Glenn C. Hilton Park on Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a Wild Bird Walk & Talk! Wild Birds Unlimited will offer a workshop at Shelter #1, then we will go for a guided walk along the Glenn C. Hilton Park Boardwalk.  Contact Lisa Miller at ammiller@hickorync.gov for more information. 

Owl Prowl Night Walk

Learn all about owls on this unique Owl Prowl Night Walk with Wild Birds Unlimited! On Friday, October 4, we will meet at Hickory City Park from 7-9 p.m. to learn all about owl habits and habitats. Corporate Challenge

Do you think your company has what it takes to be named the Corporate Challenge Champion?! The Corporate Challenge is a competition amongst organizations where each team will go head to head in a variety of activities including dodgeball, cornhole, pickleball, trivia, and more. The challenge will run from mid-September to early October. Registration can be done below and is open until Friday, September 13. Creeper Trail Bike Trip

Mountain bikers, come explore the Virginia Creeper Trail with us on Saturday, October 5! Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Highland Recreation Center for a day trip along this scenic mountain biking trail. We will stop for lunch in Damascus, VA, and return to Hickory in the afternoon. Registration is required below by September 25. Park Highlight

Hickory City Park

Hickory City Park has eight lighted tennis courts, a multipurpose facility, a covered shelter, and a paved bikeway. It also has an access point to the Lake Hickory Trails, a system of mountain biking and nature trails. Hickory City Park is located at  1581 12th Street Drive NW in Hickory.
